Shield was a cross-art collaboration by Amaara Raheem, a contemporary tale about three voyages of discovery, and an Aboriginal bark shield. Not for the last time in her life Amaara finds herself packing a suitcase for a distant land. Shield is about the intertwining of personal history and world history; from Sri Lanka, to Australia, to London, Amaara Raheem and company take you on a vivid world journey told through vignettes of film and dance. Set to an original score, written and performed live by Tobia Sturmer: With fabulous, compelling percussion and a set made of silk, Shield is a beautiful expression of the notion of home, exploration, love and communication.
